Kris Bovenizer

Artist Statement

Kris Bovenizer was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She has worn many hats, including writer and archaeologist, before “selling her soul” to the corporate world. Kris regained her soul after taking a sabbatical from her job as a biggy-wig and never going back; instead returning to school to gain her Fine Arts certification at Toronto’s, “The Art Centre”. She now works as a full time artist and part time printmaking technician at the school. Kris has her own line of greeting cards and silkscreened garments, but its her love of sculpture and painting that drives her.

“My experiences influence my need to communicate to the world through my creations. My work is dedicated to the juxtaposition between the seen, culturally proscribed world that I live in, and the world looked over or altogether unknown; which is no less real. I hold up these alternate realities to challenge the viewer’s own perceived truths.”
